Student Support
A big part of what our alumni clubs do is support our talented Connecticut students in their paths as they apply to, attend, and graduate from our alma maters. In kind, we organize support for our students for each of these three phases, and alumni from each club — but collectively and in their individual capacities — are always available to mentor our students and to help them on their journeys!
Supporting Students When They Apply
Each year, the Hartford All-Ivy clubs present book awards for each of their schools to outstanding junior year students. These awards, selected in partnership with students’ schools, are given in recognition of students who display exemplary character, leadership, scholarship, and intellectual promise. If you would like to learn more about receiving one of our schools’ book awards at your high school, please click here to contact us.
Supporting Students On-Campus
Our members are always just an e-mail or phone call away for any students who would like to seek informal or formal mentorship opportunities with our members! Beyond that, our clubs also make meaningful scholarship and summer internship stipend opportunities available to students. For example, the Yale Club of Hartford organizes a summer internship stipend program each year, the Frank O.H. Williams Fellowship. This fellowship provides up to five Yale College students from greater Hartford the opportunity to gain valuable, paid work experience while serving their community at local nonprofit organizations with stipends of $3,500 each. Through the years, fellowship recipients have made terrific contributions to Connecticut non-profits, including Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, The Jackson Laboratory, Mark Twain House & Museum, Real Art Ways, TheaterWorks, and more, with many of these students returning to Connecticut to serve or to work in industry. Additionally, the Yale Club of Hartford makes available more than $10,000 per year of scholarships to Yale students from the Hartford metro area. These are just some of the examples of how our clubs support our Connecticut students on-campus — read more on our clubs’ websites to find out more about what each of our clubs do for our students!
Supporting Students As They Graduate
We want to help our students on their way as they graduate — and for those so interested, we want to help them land terrific post-university paths back in Connecticut! We offer networking opportunities as a big part of our Hartford “All-Ivy” Events, with each event having part of the venue space setup to encourage members to welcome newly-graduated students into our community. We also facilitate both informal and formal mentorship opportunities, and provide directories of our members organized by field and by organization to make it easier for new graduates to connect with those of our members most aligned with graduates’ interests and aspirations. Just as we want to help our most deserving Connecticut students access some of the best opportunities available, we want to help those so interested to make new opportunities for those around them here in Connecticut — stay tuned for what more we’re planning to help make that happen!
